The Good Stuff.

Yesterday I suggested that the Sony a6300 shares design and handling similarities with the old Leica CL (Compact Leica) from the 1970's. A VSL reader had the same idea...

Mr. Hensen and I can see the similarities. Can you?

Most camera design comes from earlier DNA...

And Leica Partnered with Minolta to also design a version called the CLE.

Minolta = Sony

CLE > a6000.

Hmmmmm?

  1. Note the Leica 40mm f2.0 Summicron gracing the front of the Sony camera. It's a wonderful lens. Wish I still had mine...

  2. More power to you. I've owned two Leica CLs and I consider them to be the most inconvenient cameras I've ever used, with the possible exception of the Exa.

  3. Yes, and the CLE was SUCH a sweet camera - but the new GX8 with a 20mm 1.7 pancake (40mm f2 Rokkor equ) is close enough to reprise the warm fuzzies of the CLE kit. I think, if you're Medicare age+ , the subconscious worry about switching to Sony is the memories of Betamax...

  5. But...what about the Sony in 2056?

  6. Dave, Other than the bottom loading I can't imagine what you thought to be inconvenient about the CL. Shutter, Aperture, Rangefinder. That's it. Don't tell me the menus were too complex...

  7. And don't forget the DNA of the Rollei 35 in the Leica CL. I believe they had a designer in common.
