I know that blogger beats up on the color, but the two Kodak cameras have exceptional skin tonality. Assuming the differences I'm seeing are hardware, because I know you try to get the color temp right, what was Kodak doing?

  2. I do most my events with the canon 1d 3. 10 mp. have 3 bodies. paid 350$ each and they use both sd and cf cards, never run out of juice, have 32 raw buffer and kan not be used as a hammer. The files are easy to work with and don't need much work in post.

    i have 2 Panasonic gx80 bodies and 2 canon 5d 2 bodies i paid 375$ each for these.

I use the same lenses for all bodies with an metabones speedbooster(Most expensive device in my gearback) on the panasonic's. for high reselution and video. But i still use the 1d's the most.

  3. Well, now you've gone and done it, Kirk! When I sold my Canon stuff and switched to Fuji, I only kept one lens. Yesterday, I found a Canon 40D (10-megapixel) body (one I've always liked) for the giveaway price of $135. So of course I bought it, just for fun.

    Curse you.

  4. There seems to be a lot of fly away hair in many of these portraits. Surely a much higher megapixel sensor would make these people look much more coiffed 8-). These are really lovely photos Kirk.
To me, the reason to get newer a newer camera has to do with factors other than pixel count. For example, I love the EVF on my G85.
Would the corollary be that Impressionist painting is no longer any good because you can see the brush strokes? Maybe if I can explain it to the Met they will be glad to give me all their now worthless Monets, Renoirs, etc.

  5. Great photo of Danny Young. I still miss the Mayor of South Austin and Texicalli Grille. Good times. Thanks for the reminder -- at any resolution.

  6. Kirk, stop that!! Those "photographers" on Dpreview surely know more than you do when they loudly proclaim that they "need" 36 megapixels in their latest behemoth DSLRs and must be able to shoot at ISO 125,000. They are experts, aren't they......

  7. Now that you've rediscovered this (I seem to recall stories to this effect in the past) it's only a matter of time before you simply start pulling 8.3MP stills from your 4K video.

  8. I have always thought Nikon D700 is pretty much any amateur or hobbyist photographer needs. How i wish Nikon still manufactures it and sells them at a budget.

  9. Sweet blog! I found it while browsing on Yahoo News.
Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News?

I've been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
    Thanks
