Kirk, curious if in your years in Austin if you ever shot anything for Ballet Austin while it was under the leadership of the late Eugene and Alexandra Slavin?
Hi William, I'm sorry to say that I never have. One of my friends or colleagues was always there before me and I didn't want to intrude. Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to shoot dance. Love ballet. Would love the challenge.
It is one of the more challenging things I've ever shot, took me a while to realize it is very much a collaborative form of photography, ballet dancers are super particular about every angle, where arms and feet and hands are. The results can be stunning. I love the stuff you shoot on stage for Zach Theatre, you manage stage lighting better with a more experienced eye than I've yet to achieve.
