I've never understood the quite common social media practice of people photographing and posting pictures of their feet. I don't guess there's anything wrong with it; I've just always wondered, "Why?"
John, the algorithms associated with your social media accounts drive what you see, for the most part. I have been on Instagram for years and have never seen images of people's feet taken by the people who are attached to the feet. Never. Tens of thousands of images; no feet. That you are seeing such images frequently tells me that our algorithmic profiles are quite different. When I very occasionally photograph my feet it's mostly because I find Birkenstock sandals to be a humorous cultural affectation. But now I am wondering why so much "feet" photography is heading to your feed. Anything you'd like to tell us???
I don't spend much time on Instagram, but I see foot photos posted from time to time on Facebook, where what drives what I see is what Facebook friends, and friends of friends post. It does seem to be more of a female thing to do. It doesn't happen every day, but often enough for me to find curious. I post quite a few photos of many different subjects on Facebook, but a photo of my feet is just not something I have ever thought to post.
I have enjoyed reading your blog for several years, and it is a little disappointing that you would try to read something sordid into an observation and question born of mere curiosity.
Sorry John, I forgot to put in the little emojis to reference that I was making a joke. Don't take shit so seriously. (implied emoji of respectful laughter...).
