Wrote this in 2015. I mentioned, in detail, that consumer drones would eventually be weaponized and used for war or terrorism. I got lots of "Freedom" push back. Now? Drones are mainstream weapons of choice. Read it for yourself.

This is exactly why I didn't get into drones when they were new. The potential for terrorism and nuisance (and target practice) were too high. I said that it would take 10 years for the law to catch up and require licensing, and sure enough that's what happened. Now thought have stabilized and they're great for travel and wedding photography.

It was a trope of science fiction since at least the 1980s. The cyberpunk role playing games from that period, Cyberpunk 2020 and Shadowrun both have character archetypes that are drone jockeys (riggers).

And Stephen Pressfield wrote a book called, "The Profession" detailing swarming A.I. controlled drone attacks, which was published back in 2012. And there is a great space battle scene in the movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy" that features an endless supply of FPV drones attacking the protagonist's space craft. Fun the in movies, chilling in real life.
