Sutton Hall. UT Campus. Texas version of Ivy League. With an emphasis on
vocational studies (business and engineering) and a de-emphasis on the liberal arts....
(the stuff that holds societies together...).
Henry photographs the new back-up battery for the studio...
From the "Data Driven" exhibit now at the Blanton.
Every once in a while we here at VSL let Henry White "off the leash" so to speak. We get him to leave the comfort of the HQ offices and give him a daily stipend of $9.50 to cover his expenses. A per diem, as it were. This should cover his coffee, lunches, parking and other out of pocket costs while out and about in Austin, Texas; one of the cheapest cities to live in in the whole USA. I think...
Today he chose to grab a Leica CL and a Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens to use for a rowdy episode of image making. I asked why and he suggested that he couldn't afford the full frame files. Thought he'd save money by only using the smaller Jpeg and raw files. There's no arguing with Henry so I let that one go.
Seems like he shot everything at either the widest aperture, or close to it. He vacillated between black and white (AKA: "Monochrome" -for the folks in pricey workshops...) and color (multi-chrome). Between Jpegs and raw files. We promised to publish his resulting efforts from his day over at the UT campus and at the Blanton Museum of Art. So here they are... (above).
