Decided to become "re-interested" in the Leica CL camera. Why? Because I suddenly realized what a fast 28mm lens is ultimately good for. It's for use as a 43mm "normal" lens on an APS-C camera. And you know what? It works really well...
I was focusing on the tasseled loafers in the mid-frame...
Whenever I see a 27mm or 28mm lens that interests me, I never think of wide-angle photography. I think of a true normal (40-43mm equivalent) focal length on an APS- C camera. Meanwhile, just this week I found myself thinking about picking up something I really don’t need: Another camera. And it’s not a Leica… it’s an OM-3. I think MJ’s adventures with an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV (and many of the comments on his blog about OM’s and Olympuses) got me started. I left micro four thirds years ago but I love the idea of the m.Zuiko 20mm f/1.4 (again, 40mm equivalent focal length) on the OM-3 - complete with weather resistance and stacked sensor. Hell, I even love the idea of the E-M10 IV with the 14-42mm EZ pancake on it. Ugh. Say something, Kirk! 😁
ReplyDeleteEasy to get attracted to shiny new stuff. I'm holding out for a Q3-43.... Don't want to dilute the piggy bank till then. One system. One interface. One menu. Are you sure you want to re-learn the Oly menu. I hear that in enlightened countries having to learn the Oly menus is punishment for shoplifting...
ReplyDeletei feel similarly about 35mm as a lens for my 24x24mm sensor, whatever you call it when you lock the camera into square mode?
