I watched a yt video recently titled something like 'Why do movies look worse now' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w31ywg_3PaM). It discusses some reasons for the flat look.
I like the third image. "Affectations" seem to grab hold on places like IG with some regularity. Such as the low contrast muted colours of a certain type of Kodak film. "Looks" have their place in art but if someone is chasing "views" and "likes" beating a successful trend to death seems to be the way to go.
