Hi Roger, In all my travels I've never worried about food except in two places: Mexico City (I always seem to come back home with a stomach bug...) and St. Petersburg, Russia. When we were shooting there in 1995 the US state department was pretty adamant not to let tap water touch anything we would eventually put in our mouths. And you never knew how restaurants were washing stuff. We drank bottled water flown in from Germany and only ate stuff that was cooked and cooked. On hiatus from raw veggies --- on potential pain of death. Otherwise, even in rural West Virginia I have not been concerned about food.
Least healthy America food I ever saw? The chicken fried bacon strips with creme gravy at the Beau Rivage Hotel in Biloxi. Watched some people who must have tipped the scales at well over four hundred load up big plates with chicken fried bacon strips. I was busy searching for oatmeal. In retrospect, they probably even make oatmeal with bacon grease in Biloxi. If you are from Biloxi you can complain but you know it's true. Two more words to sum up rural food in the south: Waffle House.
In the early 2000s I did some work with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. I had lunch in the CDC cafeteria with one of their staff. He was apologetic about the food. When I saw it, I understood - it was classic Southern food grease and gravy and carbs. A few years later the CDC got interested in obesity and nutrition so I expect the cafeteria looks different today.
I have stayed in the Beau Rivage Hotel for conferences. Missed seeing the chicken fried bacon. That must have been part of the Paula Dean theme. I concentrate on fresh, non-fried seafood in southern coastal towns and try to not eat in the casinos. Cold boiled crab and shrimp with a little lemon or red sauce are the best and most healthy southern Gulf Coast food.
A great photo from a pocket camera. The 'charm of village cricket' is somewhat quintessentially English. Mrs J and I are in Scotland on vacation at present, enjoying very fine weather and great places and people to photograph.

TMJ, Not quite sure how a Hasselblad 500 C/M medium format camera and a big, all metal honker of a lens is a "pocket camera." Explain?
