I underestimated just how good the Panasonic G9 camera was/is. I took two to Iceland a while back and stumbled across some selections while working on something else. These are from late Fall of 2018.

Still use mine. It's starting to fall apart. The flashing is coming off; just glue the pieces back on. Some of the buttons are stiff or want to stick. Was out this morning early walking around for 5 hours. Should get something new that I don't get frustrated with but 43 rumors keeps saying a new one might be just around the corner. I'm get fooled so easy.

Wonderful camera. I still use one, and it worked a wedding for me me this weekend. last weekend it was a camp out and reenactment. I of course wish the new G9II would come out with the S5II AF, or it was slightly smaller for backpacking...oh well I really don't care. It works, is paid for, balances with a whole range of awesome F2.8 "Pro" zooms or small primes from both Leica/Lumix and Zukio, and with DXO or Capture One it's RAW files are delights to work with. If I won the lottery...ok...but until then it still is a more capable camera than I am a photographer.

Was in Iceland in 2016, using Oly E-M5ii at the time. Think I photographed some of the same colorful houses. Over the past year added the S5 for a decent FF, I like the way it works, and was mighty tempted over the last couple weeks to get a G9 as they were on sale big time. But, having a number of the best 4/3 lenses that I still use, I stuck with E-M1ii for now, for focusing. Will be very interested in a G9ii, with PDAF focusing and a well implemented HHHR. Patient. Panny has had plenty of time to do something special in m4/3. Most likely a GH model first.

My G9 is still doing me just fine. With the Pana-Leica 12-60 it does about 90% of everything I need. Add in the Oly 12-100 and I'm covered. Not sure what I'd ask for in an upgrade.

I'd like to have more MP, but can't say I really need it. Hand-held high resolution would tempt me, but not sure I'd be willing to pay for it, especially the way software solutions are improving these days.

I do wish I could have it all in a smaller package - my G85 gets far more use - but all in all, I'm a happy guy.

Such a cool collection of images. Some of the lines - of the land or the sea or whatever - seem to go on and on and on forever. The colors - which to my untutored eye & mind seems to vary between subtly muted and madly rich - all pull me in.

To my surprise, the one I kept coming back to look at was your black and white photo of your hiking boots. I can relate.

But the lighthouses were pretty fine, too.

It's a treat to see these again. Thanks, Kirk.

a bunch of nice photos, but for me, 18 & 21 are works of art

And with advances in AI denoising and post processing, these smaller format pictures are going to have a new lease on life, even the ones that might have supposedly been "unusuable" before.

I'm an Olympus man myself now, though I used a pair of G3s for some time years ago.

Norway is about the closest I've got, I'd heard about a ferry from norway to iceland, I think it's more towards being a cruise ship, public health nightmare at the moment but sounds like a nice way to get there...

And, just to itch the GAS again, did you saw the newer G9II? Looks really incredible.
