Totally off the topic of photography but right on target for Kirk.

As many of you know my kid, Ben, went off to college last Fall. He got out of Texas. He got out of the Southwest. He went all the way to Saratoga Springs, NY to attend Skidmore College. He chose the school, visited on his own and made the final decision. Even though it is 1849 miles from Austin we were very pleased with his decision. It's a rigorous school and very selective. And Saratoga Springs is drop dead beautiful.

So, I was waiting for Belinda to meet me at the Blanton Museum after my swim practice this afternoon and I got a text. It was from Ben. He made the Dean's List for last semester. It was his freshman, first semester.

I am very proud of Ben.

Go Ben.

  1. I presume, because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, that he is a very good writer?

  4. Great work all around I'd say. Just curious, did Ben take a camera along with him. Might be interesting for him to start a visual diary.... Kirk?

  9. Ok, I admit it: as a European, I had to look up the term "Dean's List" in Wikipedia. I also asked Mitchie, my wife (who studied in the US) about "Freshman Year", tho I could guess what that means.

Anyway, congrats to you all. Ben is a good kid. And it's good to have some nice and personal stuff here, beside all the camera and business reports. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

  10. That is impressive, but what is more impressive is that he is a thoughtful person with excellent manners.

  14. Thanks for all the warm, nice, happy response. A nice reminder that a lot of stuff goes to plan and works well.

I do have to tell Larry Cordeiro that not only did Ben not take a camera along (I offered him literally any camera) but doesn't take a lot of images with his phone either. Not a content producer in the visual field beyond his early video work.

  15. Yeah, well apples, trees. He comes by it honestly, no?

    Congratulations.

We live through our children. Store it up for when he calls you at 3:00 AM, Kirk.

  16. As a father of a kid about the same age, I know only too well how this kind of thing is important, for all concerned.
Congratulations to Ben and both of you. Well done!
