Low light, hand held photograph of my nightstand taken with the Kamlan 50mm f1.0 lens.
(Disclaimer: I am not paid by the makers or distributors of Juicy Fruit in any fashion. Not even free gum. But I'm ready for them to hire me to create a campaign for their medical use of the product. If you work for the chewing gum company then call me, I'd also like a new car....).
But I digress.
How's that Kamlan 50mm f1.1 lens working out for me? I've shot it more and more often lately and it's a lot of fun. Sharper than I thought it would be (in the middle of the frame) at wider apertures but falling apart pretty quickly as you move to the edges of the frame. Nobody will mistake this for a modern macro lens but it's at least as much fun as anything LensBaby ever came out with and more controllable.
I'm doing some fun portraits in studio next week and I'm determined to mix this lens with a liberal dose of constant, LED lighting to really see what I can squeeze out of it. I guarantee it won't be "sharp in the corners."

Good move with the gum. Here's why: Prilosec (and others like it) sharply reduce acid level. Acid helps protect your gut against some nasty bacteria. Weaker acid presents an opportunity for C. diff bacteria to take hold. Then you really get sick.

Seems like thats your main comment about the Fuji system. For a portrait photographer though, that may be ideal.
Hmm, I'll have to try the Juicy Fruit cure. I've been on Nexium for as long as I can remember. I don't have any stomach issues now, but my acupuncturist suggests I come off of the drug and use other, more natural remedies.
With regard to the Kamlan, if you have something not in the middle of the frame, like a face in the corner or one edge of the frame and you focus on that specifically, will it be in focus?
Juicy Fruit - I live in the Atlanta, Georgia area. One of the roads I take when heading to the N. Georgia mountains passes by a Wrigley plant. Depending on the weather, I can sometimes catch a faint hint of what is being produced that day - Juicy Fruit, Spearmint, Double Mint. I will have to try it as a heartburn remedy.
Hi Kirk,
Before anybody else asks:
Does your chewing gum lose its flavour
On the bedpost overnight?
If your mother says don't chew it
Do you swallow it in spite
Can you catch it on your tonsils
Can you heave it left and right
Does your chewing gum lose its flavour
On the bedpost overnight?
Like many [dozens, at least] I learned this at summer camp with no attribution, so am happy to clear that up by crediting Lonnie Donegan.
Dreamy lens, nightstand, I think I know what you're getting at here.
