I made sure Ben bundled up against the wet cold this morning and dropped him off at cross country practice at 6:45 this morning. Then I picked up a small, almost pocketable, slr system camera and went off for my own run around the lake. I stopped when I saw stuff I wanted to photograph.
Nothing special. Just a few scenes from a chilly morning.

That reminds me of a romantic comedy that we watched a while back (I forget the name). One of the gags was a jogging/photography club. Of course they all had slrs, and didn't really stop for the photography.

Just a little thank you. My family lived in Austin for most of the 70s. We left when I was about 10. I was able to visit for a few days (too short!) back in October and spent nearly all my time on a bicycle seeing the sights of my youth. Your work is absolutely terrific and I find myself agreeing with you quite often on many subjects. Thanks for the excellent photos of my hometown.

Were these taken with your V1? Would you recommend the V1, even though the lens adapter is not available here in the US, and there are no primes for taking family portraits? Are we at the point yet where micro 4/3 cameras are capable of doing family portraiture, given that Oly has the 45mm prime now? Or the Panasonic 20mm? Really tired of the bulk of my Nikon dslr, and would love a system that is more portable, but would be capable of taking holiday/family portraits as well. Have been eyeing the EPL3 will the tilting LCD...tired of the endless indecision as well!
It's great to see water in the creeks again in Austin! I really like the fall colors of the tree in the first photo. Did you use a polarizer?

The most telling thing about this article is that it is about the images. If the camera where mentioned the conversation would be about the pixels..noise..lens...can you actually take pictures with the camera....on and on.
No polarizers. Just a camera and a kit lens. And a huffing and puffing photographer. Thanks.

V1+10mm-30mm.
Thanks to "pocketable" cameras I've seen and captured images that I wouldn't have otherwise. But sometimes I wonder if the almost daily use of my G12 for what are really snapshots, or diary images, saps the photographic energy that would other wise build to the point it kicks me out the door for "serious" photography with my D300, tripod, lenses - and that polarizer.
Don't mistake me as implying that your jogging photos are not serious work. I just think that the results of my work would be different done as an aside to another activity, as opposed to the rare interlude when I allow myself an outing focused on images.
