I had to look at the exif info to see what camera I used. They are all the same now. Homogenization complete. Unless, of course, you are still shooting film...
Your 150% correct. It all looks the same, boring. Except film, a lot of people I know are moving back to film for their important work and if they want to be different. Once again you hit the nail on the head
Pretty well nailed a major reason why I stick with film and darkroom printing...because medium format black and white (shot using good cameras and good glass, on fresh film processed correctly) is exactly NOT what everyone else is doing right now.

I still shoot film on occasion, not entirely sure why.
