I think Nikon makes great cameras. Sometimes it takes a while to get them sorted out and functioning properly. This is just a playful jab. Don't read too much into it...

One more past article ribbing Nikon about recalls. Appropriate given the contemporary recalls of the Z System.

A decade ago I discovered Nissin flashes when I was shooting Nikon DSLRs. They were half the price of the equivalent Nikon unit, worked just as well, and I've yet to kill one. They are expensive, though, compared to the Godox and other third-party brands now, which is crazy to think. Usable $120 hot shoe flashes abound, you can go even cheaper if your adhere to a more "strobist" mentality, but I have a hard time foregoing TTL.
ReplyDeleteIn the video realm, my daughter shoots with super inexpensive Neewer LED panels. While not perfect, you can buy a six pack of them (with Wasabi batteries and stands) for less than a single LitePanel of comparable size.
I know that LitePanel and ARRI have their place in commercial film and television production, but for the indy filmmaker, student, or emerging professional there is no reason to ignore the 90% of performance for 20% of the price.
