What a wonderful, wonderful photo. You really captured her spirit there. I used to see her most Sunday mornings shopping at the original Whole Foods on Lamar. Oh how I miss her - we could really use her now.
Hi Martin. Thanks for the kind comment. You reminded me that Belinda and I did an advertising campaign with Gov. Ann Richards and we used the Whole Foods store on Lamar as our location. Belinda was art directing advertising for a condominium project. Gov. Ann was friends of one of the developers, ended up buying a quite nice unit there and agreed to be in a campaign. She was demanding but fun to work with. The stories we could tell....
This image was shot in 1986 during the election cycle for US president. Geraldine Ferraro and Fritz Mondale came to the Texas capitol to campaign and Gov. Ann was one of the speakers. I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time to get this shot. No AF, no digital, no image review, and on ISO 100 slide film. That's how we rolled back then.
Priceless!! Real pros don't need motor drives for news coverage. Timing, it's all about timing and anticipating the action. Or just luck lol. I would take it either way.
Was there a time in Texas when you were not ruled by grandstanding "politicians" whose sole purpose is to grind their hate into the faces of those who did not vote for them?
Yes. Back when Ann Richards was Governor. Or Mark White. Or even George Bush. This unbridled, brain-damaged hatred is a new product delivered by the far right. Abbott and Dan Patrick have perfected mindless hatred to a near art form.

Oh, and no motor drive. This one was totally thumb driven.
Texas used to have great politicians. Where did we go wrong?
And this is a wonderful photo.

Great picture. The last governor before the crazy started in Texas. I see you are going to get to vote for secession next year. :-)

Democrats have never been so venal in Texas. They actually wanted to help people.
