Nice work, Kirk. I particularly like #1, the hat, and #20, the trestle or overpass. I haven't spent much time doing B&W since my days processing and printing Tri-X images in my own darkroom. But I love the tonality of these shots. The PanaLeica 42.5mm f/1.2 is a bit too dear for me these days. But I'm still pretty happy with the f/1.8 version on my G9.
I wish I had more opportunities outside of work to do portraits but we're back into a major uptick in Covid infections here in central Texas. Friends who successfully dodged the first 2.5 years are getting hit left and right. But if I find a great model I want to try a lot of different black and white shots. I think that's the most fun.
On the Panasonic cameras the monochrome D (or whichever is the highest contrast) works well for me. I kill the noise reduction because I think having some noise in the files makes them better. It's all a big experiment.
Hi Phil, I have no earthly idea why someone or some group would put that on a t-shirt and walk around with it. The people were not combative or rude but we were just passing each other on the sidewalk when I took the photos. I am as mystified as you. Generally when we see a bunch of "same" t-shirts on a group of people it's a wedding/bridal party here to have a bachelorette party,, reckless drunken weekend in Austin. This group? Total mystery.
Phil, thanks for pushing me to research. It's hate speech on a t-shirt aimed at Joe Biden specifically and liberal democrats generally. I did not know that when I posted the images but finding that out required me (morally, ethically, righteously) to quickly remove all those photographs. No place to right wing hate mongering on my blog.
Respectful conversations on either side. Sure. Hate speech? Not so much. Or.... not at all.
sorry for the faulty backgrounding. I'll be more careful in the future. That's what I get for liking the tonality and not paying enough attention to content.

Stay cool. Stay safe.
Can you provide a little context for "Who Sh*t in my Pants?"

Anyone out there know?

The G9 has lived longer in my camera bag than ANY camera I've owned. Just picked up the Leica 8-18mm to play with on it.
I do like your black and white work Kirk.
And it's not just that it tempers the clear blue sky jealousy. Honest.
