  2. Looks like Rue St Paul in Vieux Montreal. I was there in late September, a good time to visit as it's both cooler and most of the tourists have departed.

  3. DIS Ottawa, You would be correct. I was there in late Oct. early Nov. and the weather was perfect. Still a large number of tourist walking around. A wonderful visit.

  4. I plan on being in Montreal in early-to-mid August. I was looking at a travel package that included staying at a hotel in old Montreal. It seems like a good locale to stay at. Any thoughts?

  5. Hi Craig, I have stayed in two hotels in the old town of Montreal. Both were great locations, just a few blocks from the cathedral, a ten minute walk to the wharf and most of the attractions I like to photograph. Everywhere else I wanted to go was accessible by a clean and well run Metro system. The hotels I stayed in were the L'Hotel and the Hotel Gault. The Gault is in an old building but the rooms and public spaces are quite modern and comfy. The L'Hotel was redone a bit longer ago and feels older --- but the ceilings in the rooms are super high and everything was quite comfortable and well executed. I'm sure others can chime in with their favorite selections. But mine have been "Kirk-Tested" and found to be good. August will be more expensive than booking in the middle of the winter but that being said Montreal is an economical town to visit anyway. Lucky you!
